U  -  1870-80's U.S. ARMY OFFICER'S AIGUILLETTE.  More Photos, Click Here  Worn by adjutants and Aide-de-camps, and some others.  Heavy gold bullion cord cleverly woven at top to form the attachment point, and the starting point of the loops and braid which went under the arm and across the chest, ending in two pendant barrel knots above brass decorative “pencils”.  Once there were thin button loops arising from the end of the braid, which the original owner removed and replaced with tiny brass hooks (for eyes on the chest).  Condition is very good overall.  Evenly tarnished but still shows good gold tones.  Attachment loop at top seems to need to be re-sewn in one spot to narrow the end to button-hole size, the way it once was.  We speculate the owner installed a button under the epaulet to which the upper end of the aiguillette attached.  This is a valuable and rare accessory seldom encountered, and originally seen having considerable variation, due to the few purchased and great variety of sources used.  This was to be expected, even in the manner of wear. See page 139, “More Army Blue” for an adjutant wearing it on the wrong side.  Virtually unavailable to collectors the past few decades. Guaranteed original.  $275

U  -  EXTREMELY RARE 1870-80'S ENLISTED ARTILLERY AIGUILLETTE - U.S. ARMY.  More Photos, Click Here  Don’t recall ever encountering another similar enlisted specimen.  And for clarity, I repeat, this is an aiguillette, not chest cords.  I believe these date about 1884, but could be 1870’s.  See Langellier’s “More Army Blue”, pg. 199 for the general form and color.  See also pg. 189.  For the fixture on the aiguillette which attaches to the flat bar under an epaulet or shoulder knot, see pg. 138, an officer’s model using the same slotted brass fitting.  From the brass shoulder fitting to the end of the two brass “pencils”, is 43”.  From the shoulder fitting, two braid loops hang, which go under the shoulder, plus two braid cords which cross the chest, attach to two buttons and hang straight down to the “pencils”.  Condition is excellent, with a few scattered snags.  Guaranteed original.  Ultra rare.  $175

U  - REGULATION PATTERN OF 1884 U.S. ARTILLERY DRESS TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here  How rare it is to find one of these from the Regular Army and not a state issue.  Excellent overall, showing some use.  Light/legible inspection stamp on lining and right shoulder from Schuylkill Arsenal in 1901.  Size 3.  Soldier’s last name lightly stamped in.  Sweat stain under arms in beige lining.  Cuffs not frayed.  Quality fabric just shows some minor scattered moth nips in the nap. I don’t see any moth holes.  Also a couple little, neat period sewn repairs to very small snags.  Excellent scarlet trim.  All buttons included, one loose.  $675

U  -  ORIGINAL M1902 U.S. ARMY BREAST CORD.  More Photos, Click Here  For the enlisted dress tunic.  Red for Artillery. Essential to properly finish off the tunic.  Prox. 54” long, consisting of double worsted wool cord which ends at one end with netted ball with button loop, and runs the other way into parallel rows of braid, more cord, then ending in twin, circular flat knots and tassels.  These cords drape across the chest and loop over right shoulder.  Excellent, lightly used example.  Now very scarce accessory.  Guaranteed original. Have a few, all in similar condition.  $35

U10Artillery1902.jpg (24787 bytes) 8U  -  EXCEPTIONAL M1902 ENLISTED ARTILLERYMAN'S DRESS UNIFORM.  More Photos, Click Here  Includes dress coat and trousers.  Coat is more fitted-out than any I've ever seen.  This came from a career soldier, and was probably the coat he wore at retirement or end of service.  Each sleeve has a set of three scarlet chevrons sewn to navy background, this over a 2 5/8" circular patch with scarlet crossed cannon at center against navy, encircled by yellow ... both neatly hand sewn to sleeve with "X" stitching.  Just above the cuff are three scarlet service stripes.  Coat is regulation with original neck label from Phila. Dept.  US's on collar.  Full coat cords and all original late period eagle buttons.  Clean, excellent coat with isolated 1" moth hole at rear of collar.  Few other 1/4" or less holes scattered. Clean, excellent interior.  Trousers are by regulation a few shades lighter blue with wide scarlet stripe down leg.  Nice condition.  Shows some wear.  Some damp stain near cuff ... probably soak out.  A few scattered moth holes.  Truly exceptional set.  $450

U  -  WWII G.I.'s KHAKI NECK TIE.  Click on each thumbnail for larger view Appears to be standard issue quality.  No markings.  Came from a large uniform lot which got split up long ago.  Excellent condition.  45 1/2" long.  The color is as close as we could get it.  $10

U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER'S HEAVY SUMMER TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here  This is Type 3, dated 1944.  Light olive twilled cotton body with thick greyish blanket type lining.  White cotton lining inside left chest where like new markings are located.  Below this is a small white pocket.  In the pocket is a pair of original leading private collar tabs; reddish orange with yellow stripe.  Has a 4 pocket, 5 button front.  Buttons are brown tone metal.  There are hip vents and single belt loop on left.  About new condition.  Guaranteed original.  $225

U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER'S HEAVY SUMMER TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here   Light twilled cotton with a thick blanket liner.  White sailcloth lining inside left chest for markings, with small white pocket below.  Both elbows have large oval reinforcement patches sewn on, of the same material as the tunic...a feature not often seen; could be for a sniper.  Internal markings clear - date 1944.  Don't see any type markings.  There is a pair of original reddish reddish orange Private 1st Class collar insignia in the inside pocket (2 stars).  Front has 4 pockets and 5 brown toned metal buttons.  Has hip vents and single belt loop on left.  Guaranteed original.  $250

U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER’S COTTON TROPICAL TUNIC -  TYPE 38.  More Photos, Click Here   On Layaway  Olive twilled cotton with 5 gold tone buttons. Believe it dates 1943 (data is a bit faded from washing).  Four pockets on front.  Top two button.  Belt loop on left hip.  No lining – never had it.  Orangey red tabs on collar with single yellow star…private second class.  Shows use but quite good.  Definitely a G.I. battlefield souvenir. Guaranteed original.  $185

U  -  WWII JAPANESE COTTON TROPICAL TUNIC – TYPE 3.  More Photos, Click Here  SOLD  Dated 1944, among the usual clear ink stamped markings on left chest.  Stout light olive cotton.  Olive brown toned metal buttons.  4 pocket, 5 button front. Large button/flap under arm vents. Red rank tabs on collars with single yellow star…Private Second Class.  Quite excellent. Guaranteed original.  $195

U  -  WWII JAPANESE REPLICA TYPE 99 INFANTRY COMBAT BELT – CARTRIDGE BOX SET.  More Photos, Click Here  Often referred to as the Navy pattern, when they were designed for the 7.7mm cartridge of the Type 99 rifle.  Originals are virtually unobtainable.  This is a re-creation in exacting detail, which in my opinion is better than the original, both in workmanship and quality. Entirely combat worthy.  It includes EVERYTHING! ... Waist belt with solid brass buckle, the two front, wedge shaped cartridge boxes with over-the-top closing strap, the bayonet frog with little belt/buckle on front, and the large, rear,  bulk 60 round ammo pouch, WITH OILER on side, again in exacting detail.  Just the single bulk cartridge box without oiler brings $200 in the original.  For display or reenactment, you could not hope to obtain better.  All matching reddish brown, lustrous heavy leather with white stitching.  Superb.  Unbelievably, there are even cardstock cartridge packets (no internals) with Japanese writing in the front boxes!!  $100 each, wholesale price, and our cost

U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER'S SUMMER WEIGHT TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here  On Layaway  Heavy twilled cotton, in a light olive khaki.  5 lustrous baked clay, reddish brown buttons.  4 pocket front.  Large button/flap under arm vents.  Hip vents.  Single belt loop on left.  Orangey red collar tabs with two yellow stars (Private 1st Class).  Ink stamped markings on inside left.  Shows date which I interpret as 1943.  NO type marking above the rectangular stamp.  Markings faded from washing - prox. 50% legible.  Very good-excellent overall used condition.  Guaranteed original.  $175

U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER'S SUMMER WEIGHT TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here  This is Type 98, dated 1943.  Light olive twilled cotton.  About new condition.  4 pocket, 5 button front.  Lustrous orangey brown baked clay buttons.  Clear markings inside left chest.  Hip vents and single belt loop on left.  Small open vents under the arms...not the type with button/flap.  Smaller inside pocket at bottom left front...a few inches below the markings.  A pair of Private 1st Class collar tabs are loose in the right front pocket; orangey red with two yellow stars.  Guaranteed original.  $195

U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER'S WINTER WEIGHT TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here  Type 98, dated 1940.  Light olive wool.  White twilled cotton lining.  Crisp ink stamped markings inside left chest.  Type marking and date among the other markings.  4 pocket, 5 button front.  Buttons are coffee with cream colored plastic.  Has hip vent and single belt loop at left. 31U  -  WWII JAPANESE SOLDIER'S WINTER WEIGHT TUNIC.  More Photos, Click Here  Type 3, dated 1944.  Heavy olive wool body with off-white cotton lining.  Clear ink stamped markings on inside left chest.  Pocket behind markings and one below.  In upper pocket I discovered a folded 5 yen paper note, a prox. 3 x 3" thin paper note with Japanese handwriting on it, and a pair of sergeant-major collar tabs.  Normal 5-button, 4 pocket front.  Hip vents.  No belt loop.  Never had one.  Overall fine condition showing little use. Guaranteed original.  $225

RegArmyUniformSet.jpg (166613 bytes) 33U  -  FINE INDIAN WAR PERIOD ENLISTED INFANTRY FIELD UNIFORM.  More Photos, Click Here  5-button sack coat with trousers from the 1880's through the Spanish American War.  Extra quality navy blue 5 button coat.  Good wool fabric with thick custom quilted lining in gold tone, with maroon and gold pocket lining.  In addition, there is a decorative white toothed flap sewn to the vertical edge, just behind the buttons.  This is only seen when the coat is unbuttoned, yet was the height of custom coats of the period.  These features are believed by some to have been obtained overseas, during the Spanish American War.  Coat only has a few scattered 1/8" moth holes and one 1/4".  Interior shows some wear to lustrous surface.  Excellent, clean heavy wool trousers in a lighter shade of blue (correct).  Belt in back.  Few little moth holes scattered, with several little holes hidden inside fly.  Very fine set.  $875

U15InfantrySet5.jpg (34257 bytes) 42U  -  GORGEOUS IDENTIFIED REGULAR ARMY PATTERN 1884 U.S. INFANTRY DRESS TUNIC & TROUSERS.  More Photos, Click Here  Probably the first Regular Army identified tunic we've had.  Soldier neatly wrote his name in the lining twice, in black ink, neatly done with character and flair, plus full unit information.  His last name was KNOCHE, and the unit was "Co. A/10th/INF./USA".  A beautiful, high quality, clean and very excellent coat.  Shows little use.  I see almost no moth damage.  Only one 3/8" hole on front above the right hip, and a few tracks in the nap on back.  White faced collar, shoulder straps, cuff tabs, and tail facings.  Rarely seen this clean, excellent.  Full set of original buttons.  Off-white lining has few spots of open seam, but no sweat stains.  Inside the front, on the button side, behind the buttons, the blue is pulled away from the edge seam for about 12".  Not seen unless you look inside coat.  Should be tacked back down.  Comes with lighter blue wool trousers with wide white stripe down outside of leg.  Dusty. Belt in back.  Few moth holes. Very good overall.  Best example I've had in years, and today, whenever we sell one of these, we wonder where and if ever we'll be able to replace it, once gone.  $775
